My Journey

I'm a software and cloud engineer, and I care a lot about systems that just work and code that's easy for the next person to pick up. I like taking a messy problem, breaking it into pieces, and building something secure, fast, and as simple as it can be.

I didn't start out in software. I studied chemistry and math and spent a few years running quantum chemistry simulations on remote supercomputers. That's where I started writing scripts to automate the tedious parts, and that way of thinking came with me when I switched to engineering. Since then I've built full-stack apps, started a DevOps team from scratch and grown it to eight people, and spent a lot of time in AWS, Terraform, and CI/CD.

The work I enjoy most is the stuff that quietly makes everyone's day better, like cutting a three-hour deploy down to ninety minutes, turning two weeks of environment setup into a few minutes, or getting rid of static credentials for good. I also really like helping other engineers grow, whether that's onboarding new teammates or running a team's knowledge-sharing sessions.
